But before we delve into the range from Fusebox - what is TPN? TPN refers to Triple Pole and Neutral. TPN distribution boards are primarily used in commercial and industrial environments to control electrical distribution. Much like single-phase boards, they split power into separate circuits while also offering protection; however, instead of supplying power via a single phase, TPN boards distribute it through three phase conductors (L1, L2, L3) along with a neutral conductor (N). This configuration makes them particularly well-suited for settings that require three-phase power, such as warehouses and factories. The term "Three Phase and Neutral" is also commonly used to describe TPN, highlighting that the three phase conductors receive power that is 120 degrees out-of-phase with one another.
TPN boards are especially advantageous in setups with emergency generators, as they manage two distinct power sources. These boards typically feature components such as main switches, MCBs, RCBOs, surge protectors, as well as accessories like mounting brackets and security locks. Additionally, TPN circuit breakers are widely utilized in larger commercial and industrial facilities to drive heavy machinery, motors, and HVAC systems that demand a higher load capacity.
Fusebox is a relative newcomer to the TPN arena, unveiling their highly anticipated range in 2023. Their latest TPN Distribution Boards come in configurations with 3, 7, 11, and 15 usable circuits, each featuring 10kA devices, a factory-installed 125A 4-pole main switch, and a T2 Surge Protection Device. This new offering from the Scottish company has been met with widespread acclaim. Emphasizing quality and practicality, the Fusebox TPN distribution boards are ideally designed for commercial, industrial, and even residential applications.
As mentioned, the design features a factory-installed 125A 4-pole main switch and T2 SPD as standard, along with 10kA-rated devices such as MCBs, RCBOs, and RCDs. A robust pan assembly with device end stops, combined with a distinctive hinged front cover, enhances convenience. Large, easy-to-terminate earth and neutral terminal bars are included, with the neutral bars shrouded for extra safety. Removable gland plates on both the top and bottom allow for smooth-edged cable entry, and the boards are compatible with FuseBox 6kA devices without any modifications. Additionally, an extension box option is available, and a coin slot door lock adds further security. And of course, the boards are manufactured in compliance with BS EN61439-3 standards.
